Shine

Everything we see, the entire visual world (from the eerie glean on the edge of an owl’s eye to bioluminescent algae and the sun itself) is within the spectrum of light - if it appears, it either shines or reflects light from another source. In German, this is clearer, because the word “schein” refers to both “shining” and “appearance.” This show, SHINE, featuring works produced by members of Avivo’s ArtWorks program, attests to the varied ways we take in and process the world around us through artistic practice. More than that, these works don’t just show us the world, they express joy in seeing the miraculous in the miniature, wonder in the fact that things simply are and appear to us in such varied ways.
